Tips for Finding the Right Beach… For You

When you live a busy life, it’s important to take time for yourself to relax and unwind. Celebrities, for example, live some of the busiest, most stressful lives and yet they’re frequently photographed at the beach. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were recently spotted and photographed at one of Southern California’s beaches for some much-needed fun in the sun.

Finding the Right Beach

In places like California or other places lucky to be close to water, there are many beaches to choose from. Unless you have a very flexible schedule, you can’t go to all of them. How will you know which beach is the best for you?

Going to whichever beach is closest can work for an impromptu visit, but if you’re really looking to have a good time, you’ll want to make sure you go to the one that provides the amenities you want most. For example, if your idea of the perfect day at the beach is one in which you can quietly listen to the rippling waves in the background as you read a book, you probably won’t want to go to a destination spot that’s known for tourism. If you have kids, you’ll probably want a beach with relatively mild waves and water that doesn’t get too deep too quickly.

Keep Yourself and Any Loved Ones Safe

According to the United States Lifesaving Association, people are five times more likely to drown at a beach without an active lifeguard on duty. If you have kids, or aren’t a strong swimmer, you’ll want to go to a beach that has someone actively watching out for people. Look for the sign, Lifeguard On Duty.

Keeping your Items Safe

When you visit the beach, it’s probably best not to bring too many expensive personal items with you. Sand can easily ruin your smart phone or any other electronics, and purses and wallets make tantalizing targets for thieves.
